I'm getting a warm fuzzy feeling over his arrival today. Can anyone tell me exactly what is the point of his visit? Did he have anything to do with the Gitmo 4 coming to Bermuda?

With real struggles for freedom happening in Iran, it's so nice to see that we can so easily abuse our freedoms to the point where a civil rights leader is brought in to support a government that does what it wants and gets away with it.

It's so nice that freedom has given us this special day!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I have so many questions about this visit! Is he getting an appearance fee? What does he know about Bermuda and our recent challenges? WHy has he not started any of his famous marches in NY over the release of Gitmo prisoners? Does he feel that such a march would be popular in his city, the city where some of the Gitmo detainees conspired to murder thousands of innocent citizens? Why does his visit Bermuda not feature on his Facebook page like his very recent visit to Arizona and sherrif Joe Arpaio (spelling)  to discuss racial profiling does? Is it because he is concerned that his followers may be unsympathetic to any person who supports the release of the detainees while US troops are being blown up daily by terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq? What does he hope this visit will achieve? Oh... most importantly - when will you be leaving!!!!!

TC - great questions but you should confuse the situation with such factual details. It's not cricket!

Guess Sharpy is coming to give the chosen few a shot in the arm...hang onto the dream....give Ewart a bit of support ad nauseam.

Bet we pay for the flight/hotel/ limo too.

Nice!!

Sharpton see a chance for some publicity and he jumps on it like the opportunistic, media-hog he is. His time has passed and he will grab onto any glimmer of attention that he can. He has nothing to contribute.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6550380.ece

"The Rev Al Sharpton, the headline-grabbing US civil rights leader, has announced plans to visit the four Uighurs in Bermuda today to support Bermuda’s “humanitarian gesture”. The Uighurs say that they are tired and may not attend the meeting."

Hey these Uighurs might be alright after-all! Smiley

Either that or maybe part of Gitmo's torture program was they had to endure hours and hours of video tapes of Al Sharpton speaking at rallies over and over again..... wacko

Al Sharpton?

LOL - don't worry tiggs, just cos they're paying him to show up doesn't mean you're out of pocket.

BTW - when can we expect to see you documentary on the Uighurs and Dr. Brown's great humanitarian deed. BTW - how is it that they were in Bermuda for a whole week before His Holy Highness even made an effort to meet them? And even then they had to be dragged over to the HILL for his photo-op.

For such a Humanitarian it's very telling indeed.

Let's hope  the joy of a  visit from the "Reverend" isn't the our only "quid pro quo" for helping out Obama.

I noticed the RG today mentioned that Obama has not received any critisism from Bermudians over this whole debacle. One thing that I found a tad hypocritical on his part was his desire to follow the US constitiution with regard to torturing prisoners at Gitmo, (which i fully support), but was prepared to turn a blind eye while aiding and abetting EB to violate Bermuda's.
