Title: Rolling Blackouts Post by: digitalguy2k on June 30, 2009, 08:36:49 AM Just wondering if Belco have started their rolling blackouts yet? My landlord came down this morning to tell me to expect power outage today between 9 and 4. Not sure if this is for maintenance or this is the start of rolling blackouts.
Title: Re: Rolling Blackouts Post by: Fortunate Son on June 30, 2009, 09:58:39 AM There's no program of blackouts as such, just an increased possibility of "load shedding" because the plant capacity is reduced at the moment. If your place is up Granaway Heights way it's off for maintenance.

Peak oil? Suggest the following (long) read linked. It's an eye opener and reality check, but could very well not be the reason digiguy is out today. "they just burnt it". :dunce:
Title: Re: Rolling Blackouts Post by: Mike on June 30, 2009, 05:00:05 PM ... oh and sorry, Fortunate Son, welcome to the forum. Thanks for your insight. :)

Power was restored at the expense of our fresh water pump.
It had kicked in and remained running without being primed for hours. Fortunately, he's resourceful and had a replacement installed in about two hours. Title: Re: Rolling Blackouts Post by: Mike on July 01, 2009, 03:41:15 PM Thanks for the opposing view to peak oil FS, but I'm afraid I've got to apply my standard rule: if you read it on the Internet, assume it is a lie.
I just don't buy the idea that Methane can be converted to the complex petrochemical molecules we know as oil. @ DG2K - too bad about the pump, that sucks! Have a karma point on me; I know it doesn't help pay for the replacement, but take it as a token of good will. :)
