"At the time, we thought Sales Focus were the best team," said Dr. Brown. "It didn't turn out that way. It happens all the time: a soccer team pays millions of dollars for a striker who in the end doesn't score goals."
Um, yeah, see your point... EXCEPT you didn't just buy an experienced (and thusly expensive) striker. What you did was replace the whole damn team with complete rookies and then were surprised that they didn't play good football.
Sadly, for everyone especially me who was so happy to use the ignore button from day 1!, even if you have Rummy on ignore, his posts still show up in Recent Posts... which just makes it EVEN harder to understand what he's on about, being all juxtaposed with the other {rational} thread posts.
And seriously, are we back to that stalking crap?? Why would anyone be watching - and actually note - people give karma points to someone else? That's just creepy.
Feel like a bit of an idiot posting here in response to something said over at BIAW but been so long since I visited them that I've forgotten my password...
BUT, @ Mysty, don't know who you think I am but I am not half-white by any means. What relevance that has to do with posting online or being a supporter/member of PLP is something that speaks more to your issues with "race" than anything to do with said political party. And seriously, can we stop calling me and others apologists?? Just the use of that says that you obviously think that everything we say is absolutely wrong, when in support of the current governing party... and THAT is exactly why I (and no, I'm not speaking for anyone else) stopped posting. If I'm always wrong, if the PLP never does a damn thing right, then why bother posting??
Agree a one-sided debate is as helpful as it sounds, where have you guys gone instead? Or just given up completely?
Can't speak for anyone else but I simply took a break. From even my own site. Other things became more pressing and yeah, a lot of it had to do with getting so frustrated. I love debating (or arguing as some of my friends like to say...) but I often felt like what I had to say mattered less than what y'all wanted to hear. And that might have had some to do with my own perceptions. But c'est la vie. A discussion is only as good as the people involved. You listen to each other and you get furthur. Allow your own bias/opinions to completely colour what the other person is trying to say? Don't see any point in that really. And that's directed at myself and others.
Again, ace, there is something markedly different between telling someone how their words affect me and calling them a liar. I'm not in on this argument you have with CO and frankly, it's none of my business so please refrain from making it mine.
Why is it that it appears to be *okay* for some to make generalisations and take quotes out of context when others are then branded intellectually dishonest?
"Okay grats, it is more than apparent from your posts that you think that a majority of the black people are, forthe most part, idiotic so-and-sos who have no clue how to make a good lifestyle choice.... gotcha."
This is exactly the kind of thing that CO berated me for yesterday...and then did it herself.
No, ace, that called an opinion based on how her writing style comes across to me (like I said in my post). I never called her a liar or anything definitive - or even quoted her (?)... just the impression that comes across to me.
Grats, honestly, have a read over of your posts over this thread and the one this stemmed from and you'll see why I, like quite a few other posters/lurkers (of all colours) who I have spoken to recently have this opinion of your writing style. You've consistently made comments that come across as if you believe that black women are the only ones with absent baby daddies, or that find themselves in a situation where children are born to single parents. That's understanding? Not to me, sounds more like admonishment without even trying to examine the details of situations. We've been getting told that the CURE stats can be explained by things that are primarily not race but it's okay to view other said stats (such as the over 80% out of wedlock birth rate) as simply a race thing? No such thing as consistency in y'alls world is there?
White people want to go home to their "loving family" at 6pm too. Myth No 1? Where's the line between "sacrifice" and "balance". The choices are different when baby daddy is not around. I guess only black women have absent baby daddies... someone tell my mixed daughter that. Her father can't be a deadbeat, he white.
Listen, it's great that you do a lot to help people. All props to you on that. But I can tell you that if I did know you personally and you some of the stuff you've posted on here, yeah, I'd find it offensive. That's my opinion. You don't have to care.
By the by, did the lady on that show last night actually say it was primarily black women looking for subsidized housing? Or was that an assumption?
