Ok does this make sense?

Immigration has allowed at least one company here to bring expats here, work construction, and pay $7 an hour?

Shouldn't an alarm bell at immigration turned on and said hey I know why they can't find any locals to work - my kids working as a bag packers at the supermarket make more than this or something? I bet they have no health care etc also?

BIU/P/whatever, what the heck is up with this?

Story in the Bermuda sun -

After reading this, the greed of people on this island is just disgusting.

I wonder what a house built with $7 labour down here would cost....

The same as a house built were laborers being paid $25 an hour. And therein lies the problem.

Spot on - both of you.

The matter should have been picked up by immigration and dealt with appropriately.

As CO's post suggests, this wil only affect the girth of the contractor's wallet, certainly not the price you or I have to pay for the house!

I think that's the third or fourth time we've agreed this morning. And it's not even Happy Hour yet...!

It's happy hour somewhere in the world - that'll do for me!  Cheesy
