I have to get this one off my chest ... crossing the road in Bermuda is DANGEROUS.? I know, you're saying, "DUH - kid killed already in the past 12 months!"? But I'm not talking about the middle of north Shore Road, I mean Hamilton!

The Corporation of Hamilton wisely put in several raised crosswalks, in an attempt to slow the traffic around said crosswalks.? All well & good and - again - a noble idea.

However, the 4-wheeled motorists still have some difficulty in STOPPING for a crosswalk at all!? The number of times a car has stopped/slowed to allow me to start across, only to take off again after my butt is 3 inches past their bumper is INFURIATING!!? If I were to drop something by mistake & bend down to get it, I'd be killed!

If I'm not mistaken, the Law states that the motorist MUST remain stationary until the pedestrian has reached the opposite sidewalk?!?!?

Comments, suggestions, nota bene's --- Huh

A bit like the crossings in Italy... great sprint training. I always figured it wasn't so much a mark of where it is safe to cross, more a mark of where it is most convenient to scrape up your body should your speed not be adequate.Since I can't imagine any crack down on such driving habits, I can only suggest extreme care and attention - and if you have kids, train them very well. And for the perpetrators - slap a BermudaSucks sticker on their fender as they drive away!

Damn, Boozer.  We missed your posts around here.

I'm glad you've sobered up enough to type again.
