Um, you do realize the Fairmont is in fact owned by... you guessed it, Fairmont. They can choose to sell to anyone they wish. Why does this have anything to do with us? Besides on a purely peripherally basis, of  course.

Other than licensing and other taxes it we have no say in the matter.

Just for interest has anyone ever heard of Goodman Hospitality Investments of Seattle?  I tried googleing them and found nothing

I'm just happy I didn't hear the words town houses mentioned in the renovations plans.  Seems that's the way all the other hotels are going. Shocked

I thought they just renovated a lot of the hotel (including the Fairmont Gold rooms?)

I stayed there a few times this year. Some rooms are pretty nice and others are really subpar for the ridiculous rates they charge.

Anything that spruces up the old girl is good, because I love the HP. She is a Bermuda landmark.

Um ... are we now prevented from posting matters of a material nature with regard to one of the largest tourist properties in Bermuda?   Do you have a problem with information being disseminated on a blog?  Is it a bad thing?

Is the blessing of government not required for the purchase of any real estate in Bermuda by non-Bermudians?

Landmark is an understatement. The HP is a piece of Bermuda History, world history for that matter.

During WWII the HP house a good portion of the MI5 cypher team, a fair number of the Nazi codes were broken in that building.
