maybe be around Xmas they might actually use 'mister' or even my first name. Wad'ya think?

I dunno, do you (still) have an English accent? If so, maybe they think you're an ex-pat... :-)

Yes, I do and I've given up trying to disguise it,it just doesn't work.I also have an uncommon surname for these parts.

Well I can sympathize RetroBob, also from St. George's, lived in England for bit, came back home, unusual surname for these parts too, often mistaken for a NON-Bermudian...

It ain't easy...  Shocked

Hi Folks,

Just got back from a 3 week holiday in UK.Had a great time reconnecting with old mates and disconnecting from here.
Well pleased with Zoom.
Did alot of driving 'round Wales and my old stomping ground, the West Country.First time I've done any Motorway driving in 6 years and I find that I cannot read a motorway sign at anywhere near the distance that I used to! Had to have my wife read road signs for me,quite a task as english is her second language(Welsh road signs, especially are a real bugger)

My first day back at work(Saturday) was a real 'welcome back to reality' when a drunken patron/guest threatened to 'kick my f***in head in AND take my work permit!'.  'Tis the season to be Jolly..................'

Glad to hear you had a good time in the UK. I hope the feel-good factor outweighs having to deal with the idiot on your return.

Sigh. If they weren't drunk and obstreperous, you could ask them "I'm from Spanish Point (or whichever neighbourhood it is), which country in Africa are you from?" Although I guess in the circumstances you could have replied "What work permit?"

Easy for you to say, Noel.  You are Bermudian.   Undecided

You hit it right on the head mate, absolutley! I'm still on a 'buzz' and that,I'm sure, allowed me to walk away from this muppet without comment(I think I was actually laughing to myself!).A few weeks ago I would have probably filled him in.

[editor's note: I fixed the quote box again... @Retrobob - put your new text in after the quote, mate.]
