So, the Bermuda against Namibia cricket has ground to a halt amidst accusations of foul play, racism, bad bowling, sour grapes etc etc... http://www.theroyalgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051029/SPORT/110290163

Well, aren't you glad all that cash was spent on a cricket tour instead of on something useful like education, road safety, the WRC, rum or whatever? What a farce.

I'm always dubious about pulling a team from the field when they are getting their asses whipped. Seems rather playground-ish. Surely better to rise above it with heads held high (well, except when the ball is flying towards it of course).

Let's just see how this plays out...

They are looking forward to welcoming their hero's home Sunday night...

Definition of Hero ... Merriam - Webster online dictionary... http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary

Main Entry: he?ro
Pronunciation: 'hir-(")O, 'hE-(")rO
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural heroes
Etymology: Latin heros, from Greek hErOs
1 a : a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability b : an illustrious warrior c : a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities d : one that shows great courage
2 a : the principal male character in a literary or dramatic work b : the central figure in an event, period, or movement
3 plural usually heros : SUBMARINE 2
4 : an object of extreme admiration and devotion : IDOL

The Heros of Bermuda.... (interesting)....

*  Angry confrontations and accusations of racism
*  slanging match
*  Island coach ordered his players off
*  quick to condemn the opposition
*  accusing the hosts of dangerous play and sour grapes
*  Bermudians as cry-babies
*  Tensions had existed between the two sides
*  bad blood spilled over
*  a row
*  umpire had to step in to deal with sledging from one of the Namibians
*  Bermuda players later claimed was racially motivated
*  similar accusations were made again
*  all these tensions finally erupted
*  a number of players from both sides were seen to trade insults
*  one Namibian player ? who had been at the centre of accusations of racial slurring ? had to be shouted down by an umpire and his team-mates.
*  withdrawal meant Bermuda conceded the defeat
*  all but labelled Bermuda?s players wimps for their decision to leave the field.
*  ?I?ve never seen anything like it in all my years in cricket?.
*  ?If they can?t handle this, they are really going to struggle. There was some talk about sledging and some complaints from some of their guys but, again, they have to be able to handle that.
*  questioned the Bermuda players? fitness.
*  ?I just don?t think these guys look like they are prepared to compete at this level,?
*  ?You only have to look at these guys to see they are not yet ready to cope with the demands of this level of cricket ? they have a lot more work to do on the fitness front.?

*  Bermuda Cricket Board president Reggie Pearman  -
?For now, we are looking forward to welcoming our heroes home on Sunday night.?

*** All of the above for the RG article: http://www.theroyalgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051029/SPORT/110290163

Now do the above adjectives and comments fit the definition of HERO?Huh??

More to the point even in funds .... $11 Million dollars  for this type of sportsmanship....

and does the Bermudian team really think people are going to buy into the race thing?Huh?

What am I missing here??? I just don't get it........
