Hola! Todas:

I'm a Bermudian Bye now living in Spain.  I have always thought that there was nowhere in the world quite like Bermuda. Now I'm sure of it.  Oh sure, we have our fair share of problems, but talking things through does help.  We learn from each other that way.

I have travelled quite a lot and seen a lot, so by comparison I don't think I will ever really believe that Bermuda, as a place truly sucks.  I do like the title of the site as being catchy with a nice sense of humour.  But does it truly suck?  Except that life itself can sometimes suck, especially when things get us down, but in Bermuda, when the sun is shining and you are taking the time to look out over the brilliant blue sea, and the multi-colours all around of houses and gardens are in full bloom, there really is no other place on earth on the same scale.  As one person  put it, "Bermuda is like a grown-up version of Disneyland."  How true, how very true!

Looking forward in joining in the debates.

Welcome Holas to our little bit of insanity - more insane at the moment than ever and well beyond amusing.

sorry you were welcomed at -1 karma - i'm hoping that it was done in error (hitting the wrong button).

Anyway, how long have you been off the island - do you miss election time?  Cheesy

I'm not sure about the bit about Bermuda being a grown up version of Disneyland - to my mind Disneyland has lots to offer but Bermuda i believe is sadly lacking in adult entertainment now (and I don't mean the spicy variety either).  But there you go - thats just my opinion.

Muchas Gracias for the warm welcome:  I like this site!
I have been off the island for over eight years, with far too few visits back home in the meantime.  So many changes, I don't recognize the place. There are lots of things to miss about Bermuda: Number One are her people, you know, such as my family and friends, and people like yourselves.  However, I'm here discovering Spain, doing a reverse of Juan de Bermudez.  I have grave misgivings about the tenor of this coming election.  My friend, Dr. Brown is a disciple of the American way, so it's no surprise that we have started off this campaign in the American style of divisive, name calling politics.  I have never liked the American model.  It costs far too much, and even people on the same side end up slanging each other.  Witness Mrs. Clinton and Barock Obama as they savage each other, and they're both Democrats.  This has the potential of whipping up unnecessary hostilities between neighbours and friends.

I love Bermuda, the country of my birth.  I think that is only natural, and I keep as much up to date as I can reading the news on-line.  Generally I have simply read on in silence without joining in any of the discussion groups.  Having had a search round on the topics I think I would like to be a part of the healthy dialogue.

One other thing that I think members might enjoy from time to time is my view of some of the customs that I have become involved in while living in Spain, such as being chased by bulls down a street who have a serious attitude problem.

More to come soon...stay tuned!

Welcome Offisland, good to have you joining us. You've certainly chosen a great part of the world to live, undoubtedly one with its own frustrations as well Wink I imagine you've done a fair bit of exploring in 8+ years, love to hear some highlights. meantime, I lookforward to seeing you post here.

I hope I didn't mislead you Offisland1, but I don't really speak Spanish!  I did my welcome to you post through the freetranslation.com website which my great-niece uses a lot (Spanish is her high school second language course) but I understand a lot of the written word.

What part of Spain are you in, and what do you do there if I may ask?

Twiggie

While Offisland1 has an IP address that does come from Spain, their weather icon is set to Atlanta, GA USA...  Smiley
