It absolutely is Piggy. You ought to be used to this kind of Mickey Mouse world. I just drive around singing the circus theme song http://www.youtube.com/v/dMsm-7-8t08 and after about 20 seconds of it everything seams to move to the beat in my head.

Awesome wrekalot.... now let's see if we can get Senator Greasy to sponsor a radio hour where we can read the news of the day. We can use the Circus theme music and just read the headlines straight as they are.

"Earlier today a ferry driver was fined $2,000 and let off without any further punishment after crashing a multi-million dollar government owned ferry with passengers on board whilst intoxicated at twice the limit. He'll be back behind the wheel on Monday folks."

Thanks for reminding me Smokelessgun. Remember that incident in Manhattan a few years ago when the ferry from New Jersey I believe smashed into the docks? People were killed and seriously injured.

This same incident could have had the same outcome but then again, the good Lord must have a special place in hhis heart for Bermuda until their points run out on the 'good luck' scale. Wink

first.. the intro should be something more along the lines of 'yo, whaddup family... yo boy thaao here............. etc'

and before sign off there should be a mention to the hotline that has been set up to pay the fine. and his family so they live happily every after.

amen.

Why is the band playing in front of a 20 foot high picture of Piglet's nostrils?

Or is that the new McDonald's logo?

If he doesn't know that fortified wine contains alcohol (and doesn't read it where marked on the bottle) then he is clearly too stupid to be piloting a public vehicle. It appears that the prosecutor is appealing for a custodial sentence.

Interesting aftermath.... yesterday the Rockaway Ferry (the 5:20 pm arrival, at least) from Hamilton headed directly into the little cove just north of the Rockaway Docks... actually disappeared from sight!... then came back around the corner hugging the shoreline and finally T-boned the dock. Usually they head to a point slightly north of the terminal, then curve south over to the dock in plain view. This ferry actually disappeared into the cove before coming around and docking up. Very strange. Huh Shocked

Yes we were going to visit Evan's Bay, see the problem was that this was the original (30 years ago) ferry stop, the driver just forgot!!!! Huh

Senor Magistrate Archibald Warner on giving the dude a $2000 fine upon his guilty plea revealed that "It has been submitted that this man is a man of good character who lives his life by Christian principles."

At least Warner should have ordered the man back to school to learn how to read words like wine and alcohol, as well as call for an investigation into how the Ministry of Transportation could hire a ferry pilot who was illiterate, and an unapologetic alcoholic, and how an illiterate could have obtained a pilot's license in the first place.

Don't know if he's banned from piloting or driving or if he must seek help.

So getting tanked and piloting a ferry, crashing it into the dock etc, gets roughly the same fine as a tourist with a joint. Yup, I can see that would be logical. Not.

I'm surprised that no-one has commented on this, but I find it disgraceful that the Union and other ferry workers are supporting this guy, and may potentially go on strike as he has now been "releived of his duties"

Surey the resposibility of being a ferry pilot implies that you do not drink on the job. If a delivery driver gets caught drunk on the job he would be fired immediately. I suppose the difference is that a delivery driver is only carrying merchandise where as the ferry is carrying passangers.

seriously didn't know that the unions are out to back this guy and are threatening strike action - hmmm is that because there aren't any holidays from New Year to Easter - need an excuse for another day off?

If that's true that basically they're saying it's ok for someone to go out, pilot a boat and put how every many hundreds of people at risk - hell, let's all go and do it, helll, i bet this wasn't the only pilot on the tipple that day - they said there were a few bottles in the bin over there.

Yes this man should remain away from his job - fancy this was an expat pilot doing the same thing - how many would be calling for strike action? I can site a few cases where expats were hauled over the coals because of 'accidents' and people were hurt/killed - and remember the outcry from the press and people of Bermuda. If that guy had injured/killed just one person because of his drinking would these people still be calling for a strike?

The world has gone bloody crazy!
