Jeremy - a resounding YES to the list.

Here's a suggestion. Make it fun. Set it up like a point scores sheet so we can start creating teams and making waggers out on it. At the end of the year each of the Minister/Parties involved will have a point score average attached to their name so that they can be given awards in a year end publication.

I'm sure there are many companies who would be willing to advertise on the page to keep it viable.

Regarding Freedom of Information (2011?) ... there is no reason, in a democracy, that more answers can't be forthcoming even without an actual law in place. Maybe a poll could be conducted to find out if the People believe they are entitled to greater access to the business of government that they finance.

Interesting idea, but I wonder if it would have that much effect; I expect it will just get blown off, as will all other public complaints until the public is willing to use the one tool with real power which they have: to vote the offending party out of power. Failing that, there's no downside to ignoring the pesky public and their pertinacious press.

A litmus test might be, whether the PLP could ever run an election, like this one, ever again.

Without a sustained campaign from moral leaders within the black Bermudian community to root out racial prejudice within the black Bermudian community, I don't see why not.

Has the Royal Gazette asked the Human Rights Commission if any laws have been violated? Have you sought legal opinion on any Constitutional matters that may have been infringed upon by this Government/Party?

Nice one there buddy. Is that a yes from you that is covered by the editor? You sound like George Bush when asked if he "had a crap today". "Yes", meaning what? Did he attempt it or have one?

You guys are so funny. Guess you guys will be buying out Bermudasucks/Rocks pretty soon. More info here eh?

We check with lawyers constantly about the legality or otherwise of things, so it's not easy to be that specific.

I do know that we checked the Workforce Equity Act against the Constitution - this was the intro to the story:

The Workforce Equity Bill contradicts the principles of both the Constitution of Bermuda and the Human Rights Act, lawyers have claimed.

In the course of our work, trying to get comment, check facts, be as informative as possible we try and check as many angles with as many people as time reasonably allows.

Hope that helps

Appreciate that comment. That still does not answer the question posed. Your answer was "Yes".

If your all that busy and you can only come up with a 'yes', mabe I should just read the "Workers Voice".

Your putting more spin on this than the present Government has over the past year.

If you think I am being stupid thats your opinion. I can assure you I am not. Personally, I have never seen anything written on line by a Jeremy Deacon. Maybe I am reading the wrong paper.

Thanks Reality. This is where we differ friend, and all respect to you because you know where I am comming from to an extent.

I should not have to google/giggle/smiggle. I asked a question and it should be answered, it means that I have to research something that has not been established?

Sometimes I wonder if my efforts are fruitless, then again, they are not because it only satisfies the ego and hunger of others.

Yes

Sorry Jeremy,

My mistake for being non-specific. I meant to direct these questions to the PLP's vocalizations during the past election, with reference to race and political affiliation under the Human Rights Act.

Thanks,

Eddie

I was asked a question and gave an answer. I then elaborated on it: I fail to see how that can amount to spin. Maybe I'm being stupid.

No you will not see many, if any articles by me. I stopped writing quite some time ago when I took up management positions that mean I am in charge of co-ordinating reporters' efforts.

If it is very busy then I'll turn my hand to writing.

Thanks Jeremy,

Maybe this from the Human Rights Act could be a starting point:

Publication of racial material and racial incitement prohibited
8A (1) No person shall, with intent to excite or promote ill will or hostility against any section of the public distinguished by colour, race or ethnic or national origins—
(a) publish or display before the public, or cause to be published or displayed before the public, written matter which is threatening, abusive or insulting; or
(b) use in any public place or at any public meeting words which are threatening, abusive or insulting,
being matter or words likely to excite or promote ill will or hostility against that section on grounds of colour, race or ethnic or national origins.
(2) No person shall, with intent to incite another to commit a breach of the peace, or having reason to believe that a breach of the peace is likely to ensue, do any act calculated to excite or promote ill will or hostility against any section of the public distinguished by colour, race or ethnic or national origins.
