I wonder what the charges were brought against the man that justified the garnering of a farcical $500 fine. Surely they could not have been failing to obey an officer, assault with a deadly weapon, failing to remain at the scene, failure to provide assistance or drunk and disorderly while driving that deadly weapon.

Did the officer need to lose a leg or die to cause the outcome to the offender to be more than the cost of a few tanks of gas.

M'Lord. The Officer bears 50% responsibility for putting his leg in front of the vehicle. Obviously lacking in judgment. Perhaps a demotion might be considered. Further, my client would never have conducted himself in such a manner if not stinking drunk. And see how well he washes up for court. Outstanding citizen.
