Guilden - here is an example of what can be done to further debate if one sees an interesting post on another site and does not choose to post at that site.

"Where is the testicular fortitude?Huh      by amcan1940 on Bermudafreespeechforum.com

It's the start of a new year and is there anyone on or off de Rock
that has the will and testicular fortitiude to take on one or more of
the issues that urgently need attention? The media raises the issues
to a degree and then they drop them like a hot potato. Individuals
come forward with reports like the one on BHC and suddenly it's no
longer an interesting topic. The forums and blogs expose and or
question possible corruption and other issues but no one picks up the
mantel and carries it on with the desire for the truth.

The newspapers can't find the truth in something as simple as was
Agent Orange used or burned at Kindley? Tourism or lack of, only
comes up for a day or two when Wart Beige goes off to the far corners
of the world and spends lots of money on what is more than likely a
holiday. With the cheap Bermuda dollar why aren't Americans,
Canadians, Brits and Europeans flocking to Bermuda?? When you have a
Justice System that allows a magistrate to hand out $500 fines for
assault and $1,600 for some wacky backy, why aren't Bermudians and
the Governor demanding the Justice System be overhauled??? Crime and
drugs affect almost every person on the Island but with a Justice
System and a Police Farce that doesn't offer any solution it's a free-
for-all. There has been an urgent need for a new hospital or too
refurbish KEMH or both and the Government doesn't do anything more
than give the management contract to friends in the US. The
Government obviously doesn't care about health care even for their
supporters. Same goes for the education system, but the best
explanation is the Government doesn't want to educate Bermudians that
may some day care enough about their country to challenge its
leaders.

Bermuda Cement fiasco is the best example of the fact that no one
cares enough too help put a stop to Government take-over. Butterfield
was left high and dry by those who should have done far more than sit
with one thumb in their mouth and the other one in their rectum. Son
Of The Soil opened a can of worms with the BHC report and so far no
one has followed through to get to the truth on the obvious issues
that were exposed let alone the whole truth.

Sure there are Bermudians who are afraid to acknowledge the issues
let alone go after the Government to deal with the critical issues.
Then there are obviously those Bermudians who talk about these issues
and act like they are doing something but in reality they are only
paying lip service. Is there even one minor issue affecting
Bermudians that has been dealt with and resolved in the past 8 years?

There are Bermudians and those in the UK that the Governor answers
too, who should be financially supporting (hiring) agencies that
specialize in investigations that find the truth. But of course you
have to first want to save your country and the testicular fortitude
too do something. The Governor and UK will sit with their thumbs, in
the above mentioned orifices, until Bermudians show they care as much
about their country as they do their bank account. "We on de case",
used to really mean something but now it means, "so what". If
Bermudians didn't have the means to afford their exodus there might
be whole different situation today."

Great, and though provoking example, SmokingGun.

We would ask that if an article is reproduced in it entirety that you attempt to get permission from the author, as well as giving the source credit here on the forum.  That is the same courtesy we'd like.   Smiley

Regarding the amcan1940 article, can anybody say "accountability"?  I knew you could...

Bingo. Too many are caught up in the dollar grab to the exclusion of all else and those who aren't seem to be a dwindling minority. Not that greed is a solely bermudian problem of course... but it does seem like a lot of people are trying to get what they can by any means before it runs out. By doing so, they make it more likely for the money pit to dry up.

I just heard someone on CNN express that you can have good leaders, but if no one's following them, they're just out taking a walk.

There has to be a dynamic. Simply, a leader requires followers.

Many people disobeyed Colour rules on the buses, but it was Rosa Park and all her tangibles and intangibles who became an anointed leader, with a diverse following.

Independent from any party apparatus, Bermuda's leaders need to step up, and as our Earth Mother said, spoil us with choice.

sorry smokes, that credit is just fine.

I know you well enough that you'd rather ask for forgiveness than permission, right?   Wink

Time to stand up and be counted. Sitting in a blog and bitching about stuff never got anything accomplished. If you want to make a difference, and are sick and tired of the status quo... do something about it!

the "death" of the opposition doesn't mean that there shouldn't be accountability, it only means that there is need for an organized structure in which to do so.

I was just looking up The Willing, as in We the Willing and found this little psychic enema:

                        WE THE WILLING

                         We the Willing
                      Led by the Unknowing
                    Are doing the Impossible
                       For the Ungrateful.

                      We have done So Much
                         With So Little
                           For So Long
                      We are now Qualified
                         To do Anything
                          With Nothing.
