So let me get this straight...they just found out about the boat load of Asbestos that was here?!??!

The problem with this Gov't is real simple...this incessant "we needed to decieve you for your own good" crap insults the people of this country. I can say this for two reasons A) i'm an expat and my opinion doesn't count for anything and B) i'm leaving in 111 days so if i'm found out to be "the leak", kicking me out makes no difference. It's always the same...GASP! how did that get there!...meanwhile those that know, KNEW from YEARS ago.

Don't let them fool you...this is all for stall tactics and keeping thier ass's clean as to why it's taken this long to get anything done.

Grrrrrrr it's so infuriating sometimes.

PS. My mom always told me to look at the bright side...at least it didn't take the 3-5 years i thought it would take to get to this point....it only took a year, go figure.

As best as I can remember it was OK to use back then. It wasn't until my buddy Agent Orange was found buried out back of the airport that I started to get suspicious. I thought he'd just gone on a long vacation to Cuba with some of his government/construction buddies.... who knew? Undecided

Took a look up there today, Building Blocks Construction aka David Durham's Company (Mr. H3) are doing the demo work on the 4 dorm buildings.....the same company that started work on the site of the new police station in town just b4 the election....nobody has touched the actual hotel yet, just the dorms wear the homless were staying...it's all a bunch of bull...just like having the hustle truck boyz rip out the windows and pull down some drywall at the old St. George's Police Station just b4 the election....They don't even have plans for the station yet, no planning permission has been granted....just all a big ploy to get St. Geo's votes....
Remember months ago when they made a big deal about breaking ground at Harbourside Villiage at Southside ( housing for the lottery winners)? Well they had to stop because they "discovered" a huge (roughly 50,000 barrels) deisel oil tank under the site (left by the Americans).... Now it was total crap because I was contacted by ICS weeks b4 this "discovery" was publicized. They wanted me to check the tank out and give them an estimate on how much it would cost to clean out.... I told them I was too busy so they ended up bringing in a foriegn firm to do the work....you think any building has been done on that yet? They haven't even begun the foundation....Another blatant deception during the election was the new housing at perimeter lane @ the old Marsh Folly Dump.... They haven't even begun construction of the houses yet, they've spent about 6 months building a retaining wall to hold back the hillside b4 the houses can be built...I'd say it'll be a year at least b4 the houses are finished...

Now don't get me wrong, I realize these things take time but stop the lie's for jenga's sake....all those phony ground breaking photo ops in the RG... gives people false hope...

While I'm at it....remember when they annouced that the new police station in town would be on the corner of church & court streets? They knocked the old building that was there down on the quickness, hauled the rubble away using all W&E Trucks on a Sat. & Sunday... That was around Feb. Mar. last year...well why was it 10 months b4 any further work was carried out at the site? Usually you have all the plans and such ready for the rebuilding b4 you even demolish what was onsite....Was it timed so that like 3 weeks b4 the election Landmark Lisgar Construction was named as the construction company and Building Blocks Construction was chosen for site prep? Hmmm.......

Landmark Lisgar? Huh

Landmark Construction has been around for awhile but the Lisgar part? A Canadian firm has partnered with them to provide the expertise needed in constructing this type of building...So.... as usual there will be maybe 10 Bermudians & 30 Canadian workers as is the case with many other firms these days... BCM Mcalpine...etc...

Just so as no-one mis interperates what Tha_Tranzporter said above re the Harbourside Villiage at Southside, the Contract to remove the tank was eventually carried out by Correia not ICS.

I aslo find it strange that Building Blocks have pulled their equipment out of the new court building excavation to work up at the Dorms. Like you say Tranz, seems like a political ploy just before the elections.

Other than the who is doing etc..... etc etc ... this whole thing stinks!!!!

I want to know WHY no-one knew there was asbestos at that site? Damn I could have told them!!!

Maybe they should have gone up to OBM and looked at the plans... F@#kn ASBESTOS in red lettering all over the things!!!!

but see that's my point...they DID know and have known for a long time. It's just too easy to say "we were unaware of this problem and THAT'S why it's taking long". It's lies, i know this for a fact. Don't ask me how i know, just know that i have no reason to lie and those that know me know that i don't.
