The thing with all the bad service that we talk about, it makes good service stand out even more. I think we should applaud those that actually get it right and make the effort. If I could award karma for good service, I'd start with the bar staff in M R Onions. Friendly, quick, and when waiting alone there (often awkward for a female) they came to chat between other customers, volunteering information about cool places to visit in Bermuda and in Canada should I ever visit.

i agree with M R Onions...excellent service there...i've mentioned there sushi before but the service at Salt Rock Grill in Somerset is also something to be commended.  Honorable mentions to Rosa's Cantina, and Flannigans in town.

I really enjoy the service ast Speciality Inn.  They are how I imagine "old-school" Bermuda service. They want to know your name if you go in more than once, they talk to you, they care about the quality of your food, and I honestly felt they enjoyed their jobs!

As a coincedence, this is one of the few places that doesn't AUTOMATICALLY add 15% tip.  Chew on that!

Here is an interesting question for you all:

What is your idea of "good service" in general?? Do you come across good service in Bemuda on a consistent basis when you dine out?

I would love to hear your answers....

CC - I personally am a picky eater and I have several people who can verify that fact.  Standing joke is that I change the menu so much that when I begin ordering I start with a steak and end up with Ceasar salad!  Frescos has food that will hit anybody's tastebuds.  Take a look at the menu in the phonebook that will give you an idea, although they have added some new items.  Depending on if you have wine with dinner or not, for two people it would be 125-200 (with wine).  I wasn't much into souffle's until I went there.  They have a Cinnamon souffle that is incredible.  And this is the type of service you get... Call the day before you go and request having that for desert and they will make it for you.  One time I joined my husband for lunch and he got there before me and asked if it was Cinnamon souffle for the day and they said no, but would whip one up for me because I am a regular there.  With chocolate sauce to....

JG - Read above that is service I enjoy.  I love going to places that don't flinch when you ask for a substitution.  They will also check on you frequently to make sure that you have everything you need, you don't have to ask for a refill on water, where just looking at a wait staff with a question on your face they come see what you need as quickly as possible, food is great without having to add salt.  I have found that M.R. Onions is great, Pickled Onion, Fresco's, Specialty Inn are great places.  Swizzle has great food, but some nights it is hard to get the service.

How many kids do you have?  It is worth it!  If you want to go out to lunch they have them then to... Take a girlfriend.  Do you work?  Take the baby in a stroller.  They have a lovely outside sitting area.

My work at the moment falls under the category of domestic goddess!  Lunch sounds perfect.

Domestic goddess is a great thing, and I wish that I had the mentality for it.  I tip my hats to all domestic goddesses.  I certainly couldn't do it full time.  You will have to let me know what you think to.
