This is definitely one way to beat traffic.  Just avoid it completely (and it's good for the environment - zero emmissions)

Taking a book right out of something you'd find in a James Bond movie, Rinspeed will be debuting its latest invention at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show - the world's first car that can actually 'fly' under water.

In fact, the company has said that the Bond movie 'The Spy Who Loved Me' served as inspiration for the car, where the famous spy drove a Lotus Esprit that converted into a submarine at one point.

Only question I have, is this standard equipment or an optional extra? Wink

It's bad enough trying to get my hair looking half way decent after 'helmet head'.  This would be a definate no no for me - sorry blankey!

Rinspeed - Appropriate name for a company that makes it. I just ordered one - Paula's trying to figure out if I have to pay the boat tax or the car tax. Knowing Ewart he'll charge me both. Wink

I think that the only way to prevent startled onlookers from calling an ambulance after you drive that thing off Darrel's Wharf would be to play the James Bond theme song at levels that would undoubtedly be illegal.

That is nutty.  I love it.

You were in fine form this weekend.  Were you stuck indoors, or were you just on a roll?   Wink

The promo video is delightfully eccentric Swiss:

There is an alternative.  You can simply ignore the traffic and go through it.

There is no such thing as an electric powered gizmo that gives zero emissions.  As soon as you plug that gizmo in it churns all that stuff down at Belco which in turn belches smoke out of that great big funnel!

(don't shoot the messenger - i keep telling him he needs to set  up his own account here!).

Right up until the windmill starts turning..... but even then there will always be the complaint that the damn thing was made in China. Undecided

Sad to say even riding a peddle bike increases the CO2 output....

Following up on earlier statements regarding what would happen in the transportation arena:

Quote
Asked if it was time to reverse the trend to larger vehicles Mr. Lister said the Premier had hinted “something interesting was coming in the transport area” although he hadn’t been told what that would entail.

Government today ended weeks of speculation about their plans by introducing a new hood ornament which is the ultimate solution to traffic jams.  The prototype will be installed on GP1 and, if EB finds that it improves his travel time, the program will be expanded to the rest of the vehicles in his cavalcade.
