From the RG - the torment is over. Or is it?

"Bermuda’s women’s World Cup qualifying hopes were shattered in South Africa yesterday as the Islanders suffered a massive 179 run loss against Papua New Guinea.

Batting first, Papua New Guinea put Bermuda’s wayward attack to the sword on the way to rattling up an impressive 223 for nine in their allotted 50 overs.

Well-known women’s footballer Chevonne Furbert led Bermuda’s bowling with figures of three for 50 off ten overs.

In reply, Bermuda crawled to 44 all out in 30.2 overs, with Mary Ellen Jackson top scoring with a determined eight off 27 deliveries.

Twelve of the Island’s runs came by way of extras while three batsmen failed to bother the scoreres.

Earlier in the week Bermuda’s women’s team made headlines across the globe for all the wrong reasons when they were skittled out for a woeful 13, with opponents South Africa requiring only four ‘legal’ deliveries to polish off the required runs for victory.

Bermuda’s tour of South Africa is reported to have been rife with internal bickering among the ranks, with coach Allan Douglas calling for a major shakeup on the team’s return."

Dude.... how you gonna shake up a team that's made up of the only women who are remotely interested in kitting up to play? Leave it be. Just cancel the rest of the World Tour and settle for a year or so on island getting up to speed. Let them have fun.

In related news El Presidente Ewart Brown has demanded to see each and every member of the women's team in person at his Cabinet office.....

Women's rugby has not long started here, maybe 2 seasons.  They play flag rugby at the moment, little contact.  They are getting coached by local players from the 4 teams, getting fitter, having fun and looking, at some point, to move onto contact.  Small steps...and they get no money from the Govt.  Ladies cricket got $56K if I remember the RG article today.
In related news, and in that article, did anyone else read the massive, massive increases in everything since the money got doled out to the BCB??
Another gravy train for those allowed to ride it.

Too right....

"When reached yesterday, Mukuddem said: "The Premier is keen on hearing my views" - but declined to elaborate on the matter.

And when asked if a date been arranged to meet with Premier Brown, Mukuddem replied: "I am not at liberty to divulge that information.""

What is up with this Dick-tatorial mentality on this stupid little sand bar? How many meetings does he need? For crimson sake the President has now taken to wearing Ming Dynasty clothes and sticking his nose in everything that's unimportant. The Emperor obviously likes attention.... dunce

Breaking News: Having just been beaten by the Zimbabwe women's cricket team Premier Ewart Brown has stepped in and offered to buy them for Z$10 billion. The equivalent of a lunch with Glenn at the Port O' Call.

At today's exchange rate you could manage lunch (provided you don't drink much and stayed at the bottom end of the wine list).
