From Vexed Bermoothes.

Quote
Two news clips from yesterday:

“Allow me to say on behalf of this Government that we are deeply committed to the goal of creating a healthier environment with respect to the issue of race in Bermuda.”

and

“Government Whip Glenn Blakeney asked Opposition MP Patricia Gordon-Pamplin when she planned to join the Progressive Labour Party and stop looking after the interests of whites, she claimed in the House of Assembly last night.”

Hmm.

No further comment needed.

Victimization-Entitlement  is a PLP cottage industry: a proven tactic of Divide & Conquer

When the sheep are perceived as being restless. tactical retreat will now begin so as to calm the victims eventually, when everybody has calmed down and forgotten the original assault,a new assault from the black beret's will proceed. to distract the sheep from the process of scamming, shearing their wool

i.e.the "The Big Conversation" 2008, 'gong show'

the racism which is alive and well and actually run by the govt in Zimbabwe -PLP Bermuda

Biggie, you gain no credibility by refering to Bermuda as Zimbabwe.  And you lose any that you might have had left by linking to World Nut Daily.

Dude - there's plenty of ammunition in what Glenn "Blatent Liar" Blakeney has to offer, no need to pull a tigga and create a distraction with that over the top stuff..... wait a second, you're not just another variation of tigga are you?

Without credible opposition, and a population more interested in its own pockets, this sort of double speak makes sure everybody gets something to cling to.

This just smacks of a fundamentally broken system.

From the RG:

"Mr. Hollis never went to any of the Big Conversation events but has watched a number of them on TV. And his idea for lunches for businessmen to discuss race was leapt upon by race relations advisor Rolffe Commisiong who asked him to join the BRRI advisory group.

A lunch at Mr. Hollis' law firm last week saw four wealthy whites and four wealthy blacks from varying backgrounds come together — the blacks were all self-made and as well off as the whites.

All eight found race was not an issue for their lives now. But the blacks could remember when they had been disadvantaged in the past, with one remembering how his mother had been fired as a maid by a prominent white family for using a bathroom from which she was barred."

OK so let me get this straight. The pre-eminent white guy/legal advisor to the Premier "never" attends any of the big conversation meetings. However he's automatically put on the board of directors for suggesting that the rich white businessmen and the rich black businessmen get together for lunch. Hmmmm.... just how uncomfortable was that lunch one might ask? For either parties. Probably not too uncomfortable I imagine.

But it should be. For both parties. I'd love to know how much of the wealth generated for these individuals was from government dealings. I'd love to know how much of the wealth that is being generated by the government dealings is pushing deep down into the pockets of those at the bottom of the totem pole. I have no problem with being made to feel uncomfortable about discussing the past. In fact I do not feel uncomfortable as I'm educated enough to know that many of the things that happened were wrong then and they would be wrong today. Sometimes I'm disgusted, sometimes I'm saddened but these emotions do not cause me discomfort. What causes me discomfort is knowingly being co-erced into doing something that I do not believe in. And I'm not comfortable with knowing others are being left behind whilst others use race to get ahead. As long as wealthy black people don't have a problem with feeling uncomfortable about explaining how we all are going to collectively make sure those that don't have the inside track on government deals are going to survive I'm all for open conversation.

Last time I checked our government is over-spending on all sorts of deals and our taxes all went up. Any decent economist could tell you that over-spending and increasing taxes leads to a brick wall for those that are already struggling to keep up. Free this and free that all sounds great but it just means more taxes. And will the wealthy be concerned? They don't need free bus-rides or daycare so probably not. But they should be.

So why don't we just stop putting so much emphasis on this whole discussion being solely about race for a little bit and instead guide the discussion to about what's really important. People. Let's start with children and elderly. Because I have a feeling when push comes to shove it's not the colour of our children and our elderly that we should be concerned with, it's their well being and safety as well as their economic survival that matters.

In the past we had the whites disregarding the well being of the blacks. Today we have the well-off disregarding the well being of the less fortunate. Let's talk about that shall we? You might be surprised at how well blacks and whites will show up for those discussions and put colour aside.

Hey Biggie, why dont you take a page out of Tigga's book and post a video, throw a tantrum then p**s off. You and he are representative of everything that is bad about Bermuda.

CO and Joka, I trust your 'yawn' is in reference to Biggie's drivel and not the very serious issue raised by the original poster.

TC - I think my record speaks for itself in that regard however for clarity, yes, the yawn was in direct response to Biggie's follow-up Zimbabwe-ism post.
