Talking about gambling, who wants to go in on a bet that Premier Brown and his side-kicks are setting up a free computer for every Bermuda household which will be offered through a no-bid rigged contract and awarded to a PLP insider? innocent

So The Premster thinks that advertising government jobs, contracts, information, events, public broadcasts etc etc should be pulled from the print media, which goes to every house and mailbox and local store as well as has an online presence already, and go exclusively to computers on-line as well as the radio.

This will mean that every household must have a computer and a radio. This also means every houseld will need a printer as well as lots of note-pads and pencils to write down all the messages coming from the Hot Heads at Hott-Air. Unless parents are going to expect their children to sit in front of a computer or the radio every day and figure it all out for themselves. This will mean our children will have even less reason to learn to read.

The dumber our people are the more manipulative our PLP politrickians can be. Can anyone think of anything more "VILE" than that?

Seeing as we have to be super sensitive to who we compare our most honorable Premier with how about we just go with Buffoon. Or as tigga would say... Clown.

Do I have any respect for this guy? Not one solitary bit.

Hmmmm.... are you suggesting Burch might be a Spitzer? Wink

This may be too volatile a topic even for me to tackle, but jokes about a politician's possible sexual orientation do make me somewhat uneasy. (The NY Governor was different; he broke the law, and in a most hypocritical way, so I think jokes about him are fair game.) As long as it's their private life, and has no impact on their public performance, shouldn't it be their business?

Please, this isn't intended to start a long (and possibly acrimonious - does BS have any other kind, sigh?) debate; I just wanted to put that thought out there.

You think the government supporters can actually read?  Hell, I'd ask them to show me their hands just to make sure they really do have opposable thumbs.

I've always found that insulting people was such a great way to change their minds.

Burch was just on Hott with Thaao talking about the axing of RG subscriptions AND advertising.  So I stand corrected, they are aiming for a savings of $840,000 annually from the RG.  (not $42,000 which is just subscriptions).

The thing is, this actually won't (or shouldn't) save that total amount of money. A lot of that money comes from public notices that are legally mandated. So even if they pull them from the RG, they are still going to have to run them somewhere. And that won't be free.

I wonder who's going to get the advertising? Or will they just change the law to do away with the public notification in the media?

Quote
Burch is also looking for a way divert employers having to pay to advertise for work permits in the RG for 3 days.  That's presently part of Immigration protocol that WILL change under Burch, he said.

No doubt they can change the rules to not require the RG. However, I'd be surprised if they can have rules requiring public advertising and forbid use of the RG.

Indeed, but.... remember the BHC documents court case - and how when the smoke cleared, there was nothing else in the file. I wonder if this attack on the RG isn't meant to divert attention from something else?

Indeed indeed.... just remember the former Minister of Health's notes regarding the John Hopkins report: "We must manage this information or it will embarass the government."

What Premier Brown is trying to do is pure and simply manage the information to save embarassment. Sorry Bud... Genie's out of the bottle.

Okay not to derail the thread as I am kinda enjoying this one today... but damn. Implication of illiteracy, low intelligence quotient and comparison to less evolved creatures is an extremely ... sad way of getting ANY point across. Just because you don't share our opinions doesn't make you any better than I. Hell, I could even infer that you are implying that black people are dumb. I won't. I try not to sink to the level of insulting people based on their asinine thought processes. I find that being civil in the face of idiocy is often a much better way to proceed through life. Frankly I'm tired of listening (reading?) the many derogatotory personal attacks on here. I won't stop posting 'cause I actually like the majority of the opinions expressed here. I guess if someone cannot back up their opinion in a intelligent manner and without facts to back up said opinion they must have to resort to ridiculous insults, eh Cowpolly? Glad we ain't like that... oh wait. My bad. YOU ARE. Lips Sealed

This latest move against the RG is so very obviously vindictive... extremely childish... amateurish...

Wonder what IB thinks of it?

I don't know what your on besides a payroll but please Smokes.....
Laverne has freedom of speach, whether  the RG or the Sun or the telephone. Your prefernace to the RG is neither here nor there unless you want to stand on street corners and hand them out. Yet again, I relish your reply. Seems familiar, like I have heard it before, like something in the background.....lyke.....................
