The RG reports on comments by new Anglican Bishop Patrick White that he is open to discuss church-funded scholarships, as suggested by Culture Minister Dale Butler.

The second Bermudian Bishop is quoted as saying, "The rhetoric of race is a disturbing factor, as far as I'm concerned, in Bermuda culture."  And, "There's an impression out there that this Government wants to continue to let it be known that this issue isn't over."

He goes on to express that he believes education to be the key to the problem, but recognizes the failings of the public school system.

He seems to understand the problem, and recognizes the church is in a position to help.  Scholarships and reparation seem like a good idea, but I'm afraid they may only foster the problem with the sense of entitlement.
