And your point is? Right of way has nothing to do with what transpired. Hell you smite me all the time with your middle finger. Do I confront in an aggresive way? Only you have the button which has no mind or sense.................

Obvious signage suggests that buses have the right of way out of the terminal in that hash-marked section....  Smiley Cool
I'll take your word for it but what it won't say is 'No matter what is coming, carry on regardless, you have the right of way'.  When the buses turn left there they cover both lanes and from the CCTV, traffic was very much flowing....the driver should have waited for traffic to stop to allow him out or for the lights to back the traffic up.   Good drivers would then have stopped prior to the box junction when traffic ahead of them had backed up to the box junction thus allowing the bus out...which is the point of the box junction there.
I can understand the bus driver's frustration...that junction is rarely clear (unless I'm driving!!) and apparently they have been complaining about the whole set-up down there since it's inception....but the reaction was clearly illegal and placed passengers at risk....

Unless they've changed the road markings and signage since September, I don't think that buses have priority there at all. The bus drivers sure act as though they do have priority, as they have a penchant for pulling straight out into flowing traffic, but I don't think that they do. Contrary to popular belief, there is no law that gives buses a general priority, and that 'Give Way' sign on the back of the buses is not only meaningless, but actually unlawful. Be that as it may, I don't think that there's any signage at the depot/Church Street junction that gives buses priority, though I stand to be corrected.

Leaving the above aside, it really matters not what the signage or priority is: the driver of the car could have been 100% wrong, but it would hardly justify the bus driver's road rage and apparently threatening behaviour.

Which is why buses regularly fly straight through the pedestrian crosswalk regardless of whether there are pedestrians are there or not.    You take your life in your hands if you decide to use that crosswalk when a bus is moving. blink

The fact that 90% of Bermuda bus drivers immediately turn on their right-hand signal as soon as they pull into a bus stop pretty much tells you all you need to know about their attitude to their fellow road users.

Hmmmm.... maybe it's time to have CCTV set ups right inside the buses themselves. One on the road ahead and one on the driver. Yeah right.... forgot BIU rules Bermuda.

that's it - the CCTV will now be monitoring people taking photos and identifying them as suckers!! ha ha.

I'm pretty sure there is a sign there that says give way to busses.  But, as Loki says, the driver WAS WELL OUT OF ORDER getting out of his bus to threaten the lady driver in the car (although i use the term "lady" loosely.

But the actions of the BIU, once again, prove that it's ok to strike people, threaten people and basically act however they want because they know they will get off with it and be reinstated.  There is no accountability anymore for members of the BIU.  Hell i want i job there.  Imagine having a bad day and being able to take it out on who you want when you want knowing you'll have the full backing of the BIU.

Just as well these guys don't work in our office - they'd be out on their ear and no unions to protect them!

I dunno, having a job there might just be hugely depressing, surrounded by such a bunch of entitled people.

Sadly, this is the way I remember it to be all my life.  There has never been consequences for  BIU members.  I've been trying to recall one incident when the employer didn't cave in to the BUI and someone was actually held accountable for their actions.  Can anyone recall such an instance?

23 years service and this is how he reacts to getting flipped the bird??!?!

we can assume that he's old enough to be a grown person and to act like a f'ing child, by blockin traffic and leaving his bus with people on them so he can rant and rave is deplorable.

And the fact that he's reinstated is the cherry on top.

It's simple really.  All BIU members know that as long as they can allow their colleagues to do this, when it's their time they have the proverbial get-out-of-jail-free card and can pretty much do whatever and whenever and know that they got full backing.

If these strikes are not illegal then they MUST BE MADE to be....where is the gov't?

The closest thing I can think of was when Steve Thomson bought Valcleaners (now Just Shirts).  We had an island wide wildcat strike then - Steve didn't cave but I believe that most of the other employers paid their workers for the time off.
