Yeah, but the real issue here is that Bermuda's bus drivers are a bunch of scumabgs answerable to no-one. This one should be out on his arse with a sharp kick. How many have you seen speeding? How many stories do we hear about "Bermuda's ambassadors" being rude to the travelling public and tourists. How many have their left hand surgically attached to the token thing?

And we know we can rely on labour government to keep them in check when they have these wildcat strikes. Like the ferry driver, Bermuda's public employees answer to no-one and we have a useless, spineless government that lacks the balls to do anytihng about it.

Sandy - you're absolutely correct. The street must go both ways. These guys want to be childish in their actions then they need to be treated like children. No if's and's or buts.

Here's the Premier of Bermuda also holding the title of Minister of Transportation and Minister of Tourism. He runs for re-election and stumps that "Bermudians will get free buses and ferry services" then in his first budget after getting elected snubs the electorate with nothing for free. Instead he "reduces" service by culling buses and ferries from regular schedules.

And to top it all off when confronted with this situation he makes a big fuss about "people are hiding the keys" on him. And this guy has aspirations of taking Bermuda independent? Slap

Think also about the example these people are setting our youngsters.  Showing them that it's alright to bully, speed and be rude to people - you'll always get away with it with the backing of the BIU.

On top of that i think the PTB is over a bit of a barrel as i understand it's not easy to recruit new drivers for one reason or another (drugs and alcohol testing), so union members can go on strike without fear of being sacked because there aren't many to replace them in the event they get fired.

Hire Phillipino or Malaysian bus drivers. Simple.

It's not that difficult to fix either. For the sign to be effective in the first place the road markings must be correct ie make it a junction, where the right of way is with the buses. At the moment the right of way is with the traffic on Church Street.

Even simpler and less likely to cause accidents, put some form of automatic control in the road at the terminal, so that when a bus needs to leave, the lights for the pedestrian crossing goes to red, until the bus or buses have exited the junction.

Simple really, you just gotta think outside of the diamond box  Slap

With Loki, there is nothing that says you "must" give way to buses, what they ask is as a matter of courtesy you give way to buses.

It would be even easier to fix if the drivers were all fired next time they walked out leaving folks stranded all over the place. Twats.

If the bus drivers showed more courtesy towards other road users, I'm sure they'd see that courtesy returned, but there is a tendency for the bus drivers to drive as if they own the road. The absolute wankers that immediately turn on their right-hand signal the instant that they pull into a bus lay-by should be dragged out into the street and shot, as far as I'm concerned. Utter pond life..........

"But they don't know the roads!!" (guarantee that'll be in the first LTE if that ever happens)

It always amazes me when I read the round of letters that comes up every few months about how driving in Bermuda is soooo difficult that driving a car here also automatically qualifies you as a brain surgeon... errr, something like that

...or how Bermudians are the nicest, friendliest people on earth! Makes me laugh. Perhaps the driver was going to tell the motorist to have a Bermudiful day?

Add to that delusion, the genetic sense of entitlement and the fact that bus drivers and ferry pilots have no-one to answer to, no wonder the place is going to hell in a handbasket.

They may not know the roads yet but there are a lot of locals that think they do. They still forget about notorious corners and junctions when the slightest rain falls. People are so inatentive when driving it's beyond.......

Then again....look at the plus side...their spuces could give cooking lessons on the buses and pass out flyers.

Buut all in all, that will never happen. The BIU and the PLP have had a stranglehold on the island for so long, I am sure your most aware of it as per all the incidents over the past year alone.

Gotta run.............Rickshaw cummin dahn Frunt Street.......Jingus..thats a good idea.......Hustle Truck/Rickshaws...................damn good money there. Wink
