CO,

I am glad they did!

I actually work with EHS and 911 EVERYDAY and what I have said is the normal response - if you live in the central areas - the first response to a medical emergency is the KEMH ambulance - unless they are out of service.

As I said in the 'wings' - i.e. east and west - it is different...

The instant case was a central call - off Tee Street?...hence the KEMH ambulance response...

Not sure what area you made the call for service from....

When it comes to the government I have to give credit where credit is due.

Am i correct in saying that Bermuda is the only country which has a successful government that is ruled by a black party? If so, this speaks volumes about the current ruling party. While I know some of you will dispute the notion of Bermuda maintaining "succesful government" the island isnt that much worse off than it was ten years ago, is it?

That depends on which definition of 'successful' your are referring to:

1.   achieving or having achieved success... or
2.   having attained wealth, position, honors, or the like.

For the life of me, I cannot understand nor fathom why "RACE" has to be brought into every thread and post.

Then again, I know why but it's getting so old. Lets deal with the system and how it operates. Our Government has been run for many years by Civil Servants from all walks of life and we should thank them regardless because if not we would not be where we are today even with all that surrounds us each day.

The system starts from the top and leads all the way down to the lowest Government employee on the salary scale.

Deal with it and adjust accordingly..........................

Bene - this has nothing to do with being black or white. It has something to do with skill level and a lot to do with accountability. It has everything to do with ethics and integrity.

Depends on your definition of "successful" - if your definition is "not much worse off", that may be true.   Huh

Of course I'm sure there are other black governments in the world that would object to your use of the word "only".

Say what? There are some majority-black countries in the Caribbean, and maybe a few in Africa, which are doing pretty well (I'm sure if Guilden had read your post from down in the Bahamas he'd have landed you a quick one 'round the lug'oles', as an ex-pat would say! :-).

(I don't know the exact status of every last country in Africa, so I can't say for sure about there, but I gather e.g. Mozambique, Tanzania, Benin, and a number of others aren't doing too badly, although in general terms I think only South Africa had widespread good modern infrastructure and an advanced economy. Ditto for the Caribbean; most are doing OK, but many have only moderately good infrastructure.)

You know what it is, most of the contributers on this site are men and bless their little cotton socks, they don't get the last word at home

Wow, you really like to live dangerously, don't you! :-)

I actually didn't want to touch that one. Self confessions should be respected for what they are. Wink

SG -

Yes. and i too agree the current administration lacks said characteristics.

jnc - According to the United Nation's Human Development Index you are correct. Barbados ranks as highly developed in the HDI at 31 with the Seychelles, St.Kitts, Bahamas, T&T and Antigua all coming in close behind.

But why do you seem so shocked that I would ask about successful black run countries? I'm interested in that sort of thing.

But you are kidding yourself if you view Mozambique, Tanzania, Benin and SA as successful as they all rank at the bottom end of the HDI.
