A letter to the RG Editor:

"Welcome to Bermuda"

May 14, 2008

Dear Sir,

I was on a Delta flight into Bermuda last week. We disembarked in good weather; I walked down the stairs about three or four feet behind a woman who was holding her purse and a carryall bag, and walking in shoes with heels about 1 ½" to 2" high. About six stairs from the bottom, she tripped and fell, in almost a somersault, ending up fully down and jammed across the steps, her shoes and bags scattered and askew over the stairs and asphalt.

I could not climb over her to help her up or to collect her possessions. There were four to five airport employees standing near the bottom of the stairs, watching. Not one of them went to her aid. This woman had to struggle to free herself from the position she was in, gather her belongings, find her shoes, and try to attend to the bleeding from a nasty gash on her knee. Finally, she hobbled barefoot into the terminal. Welcome to Bermuda.

Perhaps those employees were stationed there for security reasons, but there were more than enough of them to reach out to another person in need. I really can't think of an excuse for this.

SHOCKED

Pembroke.

wacko Must be BIU. It's not my jaaawwwwbbb.

I hearby announce a creative "Give Them The Finger" Campaign. As you walk off the plane everyone should give all these guys the finger in as creative a way as possible. Please try to record it with their sorry-ass faces prominantly featured and post it on BermudaSucks.

kirstymc21 - if you show up wearing high heels and your knives in hand and can gracefully "stumble" down the stairs letting said knives fly in the general direction of said sorry-assed faced morons, you'll have a free place to stay for your time in Bermuda. And they'll get a little exercise in their lives. Wink

You know Smokes I read that also. They should be ashamed. The first thing I would have done is what others would have done.

Unfortunately the description of "It's not my job" permiates everyday work ethics. Typical though here in Bermuda. If it does not effect my wallett...who gives a .....

I am lost for more words but I think you get my drift.

A cultrual thing and passed on...... Just imagine if the Lordof the Mound had fallen..........tink abowt hit.........

We'd have had four/five new "Heads of Departments"...................

I need a new needle..........

Job or not, I just can't imagine not helping the lady up. Perhaps it was because she just needed to say good morning first?

More likely, the Union said they couldn't.

Right, yep... there would have to be a strike if they were expected to show some courtesy as well as doing their jobs.

Nah.  I'm sure there is a lady-picker-upper on staff somewhere and the union would have filed a grievance if anyone else had helped her.  Sad

I've heard there are a few lady-picker-uppers in Bermuda. Come to think of it, I may have met one or two...

Yea, I do that as a side job on the weekends. It's really satisfying work...  Slap
