Or scuba diving, or sailing - loads of things to do here!  There's also a lot of volunteer things you can try, if you're interested.  Loads of 'accountants widows' do that to stay busy during the day.  The website is http://www.centreonphilanthropy.org/ - it lists all the local charities that need volunteers.

You might want to ask your wife's friend to keep an eye and ear out for places to live (if she isn't doing so already) - believe most of the other audit firms on the island tend to have their big influx of new staff coming in around the same time so finding good places for reasonable rent might be a challenge if you wait until you get here.  A lot of good places tend to go through word of mouth as well so if she hears of anyone that has a fab place that will be leaving when you are coming, you may want to have her put in a good word for you, give you the edge over the competition!

Cool - if any of you guys hear of a great place...  Wink  let me know. For end August. She is actually coming to Bermuda 2 weeks early to try and get a head start over the competition for places. We are doing our open water course in 3 weeks time so that we can go diving there which will be cool.

You should know that the diving in Bermuda is nothing like South Africa's. It is a nice way to get to know some people though... there's a diving club at Spanish point, rock up there on a club night and you'll find they're a friendly bunch (who will want to rope you in to cooking or something).

haha! I would hope the diving is better - here in Cape Town the water is cold, murky and full of sharks! There is good diving in Sodwana a few hours north of me which is where Im going to do my course.

Sodwana is terrific, IMO among the best in the world. I learned there and it takes somewhere pretty special to measure up - I hope you have as much fun as I did. Ah, lots of memories surfacing involving SA cider...

Well Sodwana was great! Managed to get my open water PADI license Smiley So diving in Bermuda is on.

Now a cheeky question  Wink  Does anyone know of people who's contracts are up in the next month or so and happen to have a great 1 bed apartment / cottage that will be hitting the rental market? I have been watching e-moo religiously but competition seems tough and any inside track would be great! It will be myself, wife and 2 cats and budget is around $2500/mnth. Pref furnished and A/C and be central. My wife will be there on 9th Aug so will be looking to rent from mid Aug or end Aug.

Thanks!

You should post an ad on e-moo under accomodations wanted...this is the best way to find a place - have the landlord contact YOU!

Good luck!
