I can only speak for Cablevision as they are my subscriber, but I have noticed recently that quite a few channels have basically become unwatchable due to stop start picture and sound.

I recollect that they said that it was something to do with either the jet stream or the earth's alignment, but I don't ever remember it being as bad and spread across so many channels.

Am I the sole experiencer of these woe's or are others suffering like me

All the time...comparitively speaking. Usually when I want to watch a new episode of southpark.

And while we are at it, our internet goes down all the time for one reason or another> has for the 5 years we have been here.

I have my internet through Cablevision and have absolutely no complaints at all. It's dropped once and that was because someone ran into a pole and damaged the cable. It was fixed in an hour or two.

Nope Jimmy, you're not the only one.  Picture quality on the local channels is appalling (figured this out when I bought my new TV - I thought the bad colour was because my last TV was a dinosaur).  I get the stop, start all the time - drives me mad when I am watching a 'whodunit' type show like Monk or Law & Order - you miss half of what has happened because a frozen, pixillated image takes up half of the show!

Gotta agree about the local channels, even when they broadcast an american programme, the picture is awful. Trying to watch golf is impossible as you can never see the ball (or there are three or four)

Worst channels at the moment for the "freeze frame"are the ESPN channels 22 and 49, whtever channel 50 TNT?  and CBC. Trying to watch the Stanley Cup was awful ( I know it was on other channels but the commentary is garbage...)

The freeze frame seems to improve at night though so must be something in the air

Glad they have fixed the sound level on channel 9 now, over the weekend it was so loud there was distortion and that was with it turned low.

Funny though how most of the distortion is experienced during the SHOW...commercials are usually a ok!

Channel 15 does that ALOT!

What happened to the good intentions of Cablevision?

The one that went..."we are bringing highly qualified technicians onto the island to adjust the receivers"...

In the C21st - when we can get pictures from Mars - it's incredible that we can't get pictures from the US.

I had to watch my news in FRENCH this morning because it was the ONLY channel coming in clear enough to understand (if you speak French that is!)

Are you sure that wasn't Bryan Darby after a liquid breakfast?
