.... funny that. We'd like to know your principles as well. The one's that are receiving the payments and contracts. After all isn't that what FOI/PATI is all about?

http://plp.bm/blog

Furthermore, I have a question. Why does the PLP government do business with companies that obviously have not got a clue as to how to bring a construction project in on budget? Are these people all just really bad business people?

The BHC scandal.
The Berkley School fiasco.
The Port Royal Golf Course trap.
The Dockyard blunders.
The New Court House shenanigans.
Amongst others....

All projects that have/are coming in well over budget. Not by 10% more to the 100% end. We all know the cement company is charging more money for cement but back when fuel was high it was somewhat understandable. How about now? Gouging? Skimming? Who's approving these cost over-runs and are they legitimate?

The more we read about what is going on down in TCI the more we see how easy it is to "divert" cash from government projects to friends and families. And that's not including the kick-backs from vendors. Seeing as the world is watching us so closely today is it not better to just shoot and aim later? Get a copy of the Cayman's FOI and just go with it for the time being. Or do you still need time to get your trusts in order?

I wonder if you will be able to get information from anything before the date this becomes law? ie the BHC, Berkley etc...

I also wonder how many projects etc. will be classed in such a way that FOI or PATI will not be applicable?

I can't see the word 'Retroactive' being used but hey......

There's a lot going on at this time and many pro PLP are very quiet especially the Chap/Furb tag team.

Then again, they are probabley out looking for donations for the Premiers Secretary. This reminds me of Richard Nixon...."I am not a crook"....just reminds me ok...don't get bent out of shape just yet.

Gotta run...suck some more of that coral reef and artifacts from the North side at the Long Arm....... Wink

Piglet - that is exactly what is going on. It's going to be one hilarious presentation when they finally come out with PATI.

The whole island is going to be covered in new plantations which no-one's allowed to ask questions about. Slap

Getting back to the construction business....

Just thinking about this whole Zane deal with Port Royal Golf course...

Zane Jr. claims that they had found a way to make more money off the deal. It turns out Zane's been using illegal over-sized trucks to do much of the work that should be going to sub-contracted general truckers. This was pointed out to Premier Ewart Brown who is also the Transportation Minister. His response? "I didn't approve it but I'm not going to stop it." This means Zane's making even more moo-la off the deal. So why is it running over-budget?

If this project comes in over-budget and Zane was allowed to circumvent the laws and pad his gains isn't that fraud?

Aser your last sentence in the post....No it's not fraud because the Premier did'nt approve it. Illegal? Unethical?

Balls in Ewarts court, where someday he may find himself and others and queried about a 'racket'. Wink

Getting back to the construction business....

Just thinking about this whole Zane deal with Port Royal Golf course...

And instead of training Bermudians on "How to Revamp Golf Courses - 101", Zane brought in a team of "specially trained" Phillipino workers and put them up in the Port Royal club house.  I wonder if he collects/deducts rent from their salaries too, as another perk to the deal?

I hear they are behind schedule and the greens facing the ocean (which you can't see from the road) are not looking very green.  Hope it's ready for the PGA...

Is there a Morgan's Point deal yet?  It seems to be used as a training ground for the Regiment and parking for Zane's and Jane's construction trucks and equipment.  I hope Zane will have trained Bermudians for the next golf course having cut his teeth on Port Royal on the tax payer's tab.  There was nothing wrong with the course to begin with.  What a waste of money benefitting very few Bermudians and definitely not the ones that need it most.  And they should be unionised and paying dues to subsidise the Bermudians that are & who are now unemployed.

It's all about ching ching Grats. Imagine how long Mid Ocean Golf Course has been used. Of course there has been work done on the Club House over a period since I was a child. Done in steps as has been the upkeep of the course itself.

The 18 holes have never been shut down. It has been managed by professionals for so long and when needed a hole has been regraded and seeded etc.

I know that it is private but I also know that Port Royal (Royal..right..) is under the hands of Government, so what a nice way to 'pay to play' out of Government funds which WE pay for.

It's a freekin joke and when it comes back to bite some ( the tax payers) down the road or fairway, Golden Eye will seem like a shack somewhere over the rainbow.......................

Of course I stand to be corrected on the full closure of MOC for such an extended period of tyme..........

This stuff gets better by the minute. The PLP website says that Mr. Steve Johnson has been appointed Director of Agromony. I would imgaine this would encompass all Government related sites.

Who is this man, what ties does he have too the island and if so, who's carrying his golf bag?

I swear, next they will be hiring 'bee keepers'.......

Don't worry, if one lands on your ball, just call Steve, or Tom Wadson.........or Mr. Furbert from Crawl Hill.........( great guy Furbert, real 'Onion')

President Brown has arranged a "private" little eight hole tournament for himself and 'select' friends tomorrow (only 8 holes are even close enough to being finished).  The idea was to get out and play on the course so that he could then stand up and say "See, it was finished on time!  We said January and we got it done in January."  Mere peons and plebes won't be able to play until August though.  And would have been on budget too if those bye's hadn't messed up planting the grass.  Funny how they only got the holes visible from public roads done.  Outa sight, outa mind.  Good thing Zane and his byes are putting in all that extra overtime for the next few months to get the other 11 holes ready.

Something tells me Alex and his new friend PATI won't be playing.....

Last week it was the Audacity of Hope. Now it's the Audacity of wasting the taxpayers money and time for a photo-op on a half finished golf course that is behind schedule and over-budget just so he can once again attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the party faithful.

Yo Brown. Your grassroots gain nothing from you showing off the barren grass roots at Port Royal. Go to the back of town and show solidarity with people who actually need your help.

I hope Mr & Mrs. Catherine-Zeta Jones don't show up. It's time they started wising up to how his use of them is starting to give people the creeps.....
