10.00 Having slept overnight on the fact that within a thirty minute period on Thursday 2009-10-29 that I had caused two near road traffic accidents with other vehicles having the right-of-way on mini-roundabouts... I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that after fifty-four years of driving pleasure that I best quit operating motor vehicles... a commonsensical but sad happening because my delightful, enjoyable 2009-07-31 acquired Fiat Panda Active ECO "WL 09 JHJ" still only has one-hundred-and-ten miles on its electronic display... c'est la vie...

Sorry to hear that old friend. There are times in the course of our jouney through life that we all have to make decesions and good on you for making this one.

Nothing wrong with a bus or a cab. The latter a bit hard on the pocket book but you'll be fine. 

I've had to give up a lot in the past year, like long walks, golf, strenuous things but still manage to get things done and enjoy little things.

You'll be fine even though it may take away from of your independence but look at the bright side...............get the bloody butler or maid to hustle you around.........

That way, you can always say...."The Butler did it".

My pedestrianization is a contingency well in hand… thanks to already proven local online supermarkets delivering provisions to my door on electronic cue… and… prior to or failing that… I wrote this in my journal near twelve years ago about the logistic attributes of my then newly purposefully bought apartment:

"Appreciative that when I no longer happen to be physical able or licensed to operate motor vehicles that my everyday household provisions and victualing needs are strategically within walking distance of my urban apartment."

Ergo… onward and upward…

08.50 ... for the past week having mulled over the fact that my cause to opt out of operating motor vehicles 2009-10-30... "that I had caused two near road traffic accidents with other vehicles having the right-of-way on mini-roundabouts..." had not properly been reasoned through... in that I had neglected to take into consideration that I was operating a vehicle that I had had less than one-hundred miles experience on, over what—for me—is not regularly travelled territory, while wearing newly prescribed spectacles that I had collected but a couple of hours before starting my journey...

And... as I am not thrilled with Vosper Motor House Ltd's 2009-11-03: "We would be pleased to buy your Panda for the sum of £4000..." just to take "JHJ" off my hands... tipped the scale... this seventy-six-year-old has decided—without further ado—that she will forthwith cautiously resume her fifty-four years of safe-driving enjoyment, operating "JHJ" locally... for... economically... as her last car travelled but 4,850 miles in eleven years... she figures she can carefully enjoy "JHJ"—with its Jewelultra Diamondbrite Paint Protection—for two or three years more before its private resale value plummets below £4,000.00... and... perchance… should "JHJ" be totalled during that time, insurance-wise, she probably would not lose out financially, either...

Hi Brenda,

Congrats on your 25th, you posted my story in your archives just thought I would pop by to say that I have my surgery on March 27th 2010.

I can only hope I end up looking as pretty as you did, the abuse still continues, recently i have had objects thrown at my windows on 4 occassions.

While about to 2010-07-17 10.31GMT properly display the new 2011-07-31 DVLA Tax disc on "WL09 JHJ"… BLS took the following picture not so much to add some credence to the often heard used-auto dealer spin "Only driven by a little old lady…" but proof of the pudding that BLS' Fiat Panda Active Eco 1.1 "WL09 JHJ" only has 288 miles on her mileage clock since 2009-07-31…"

On Saturday 2010-07-31 "WL09 JHJ" enjoyed its first 12 month service...



And on arrival home "JHJ" still only had 322 miles on her mileage clock since 2009-07-31…
