 Slap

Way too funny - because they are WRONG! I used to shop on island as much as I could in order to support the local economy - HOWEVER- over the course of the last year, the QUALITY of the available merchandise has dropped substantially while the prices remain the same, or have increased. I also need a pair of decent black dress pants...yet there's none to be found...you cannot even get the basics on this island...and when you do find them, the brands are the ones I wouldn't even pay $20 for, let alone the $50+ they are asking for here. I can't speak for housewares (as they state in the article), but in so far as clothing - there's none to be found on this island (decent clothing anyway!). Shoes are another deal though - for the most part, I can get my beloved brands here for WAY less than I can get them for in Canada...so I'll still be supporting that economy, and I'll be one well-shod lady when I return home!

You can get shoes on the island cheaper than Canada?....seriously?

I wasn't about to pay the crazy prices for anything i didn't have to...admittedly i don't shop for clothes and such very often, but when we went on vacations or trips home we normally picked up what we needed then....WALMART RULES THE WORLD! LOL   Wink

Yes, shoes are cheaper here - when you compare brand to brand. For example Nine West - WAY CHEAPER HERE! Basic price for Nine West in Toronto: $115 (The exact shoe here is often $95.00) Factor in Ontario Sales Tax, GST, then Customs duty in Bermy, and even with the exchange, still cheaper to get the shoe here on Reid Street. How happy can a girl get when they have a sale here and the shoe goes down to $70 or $60? VERY HAPPY indeed!
